# Create a job

Choose scenes and render targets, configure their jobs, and submit them for rendering.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

## Choose the scenes

In **All Scenes** or an open [project](/docs/web-app/projects.md), select scenes marked **Ready**. Click **Create Job** for one scene or **Create Jobs** for several in the action bar below the list.

You can also start from a scene's card, table row, or right-click menu. For an open scene, use **Create Job** in the top bar or its **Attributes** panel. Scene entries in **Activity** offer the same action when available.

To render an earlier upload, choose its [version](/docs/web-app/scenes-and-versions.md#choose-a-version) before creating the job. You can also change the version in the creation page's left panel.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Select what to render

At the top of the form, check the targets you want to render. The scene's left panel lists them under **Render Targets** for Octane Standalone, **Takes** for Cinema 4D, or **Scenes** for Blender. Each checked target becomes a separate job.

The first target in each scene starts selected. To include them all, enable **Render all takes as separate jobs**, or the equivalent option for your scene type. A scene with only one target has no target picker.

When the selected scenes use the same application and renderer, their jobs share one set of settings. To give each target its own settings, enable **Individual settings for each take**, render target, or scene, then click each target name to configure it. Mixed applications or renderers use individual settings automatically.

{% hint style="info" %}
After switching to individual settings, check each target's quality, resolution, and frame range. These start from that target's saved scene settings. A **Settings not changed yet** marker identifies a target you have not edited.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Set the render and output options

Check **Host Application** and **Renderer**, where shown. Their names come from the uploaded scene; use the adjacent version lists to choose the versions to render with. Changing the application version can also change the available renderer version.

Set the [frame range, quality, resolution, and passes](/docs/web-app/render-settings.md), then add at least one [output](/docs/web-app/outputs.md). If you are using individual settings, complete these choices for every checked target.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Choose the tier and delivery

Under **Network Settings**, choose a [render tier and node requirements](/docs/web-app/render-tiers.md).

In **Approval & Downloads**:

* Leave **Auto Approve** off to [review finished frames](/docs/web-app/review-and-approve-frames.md) before approving them, or turn it on to approve frames automatically.
* Turn on **Auto download** if you want automatic delivery. This requires **Auto Approve**.
* Choose [local delivery](/docs/web-app/download-frames.md#set-up-automatic-local-downloads), a connected [cloud destination](/docs/web-app/cloud-storage.md#deliver-a-job-to-this-account), or both.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Check and submit

Review the job and frame counts beside the form. You can fill in **Job Cost Estimate** to [estimate the cost](/docs/web-app/cost-calculator.md#estimate-while-creating-a-job); an estimate is optional.

Click **Create Job**. If you selected an older scene version, check the confirmation and click **Create job anyway** or **Create jobs anyway** to use it.

After successful submission, **All Jobs** opens. See [Track render progress](/docs/web-app/track-progress.md) to follow the jobs. If a job cannot be created, its error appears and the form stays open. Check **All Jobs** before retrying a batch, because other jobs in the batch may have succeeded.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## If Create Job is unavailable

Read the messages beside the form and in the summary. Check that at least one target is selected, every selected target has an output, and the highlighted settings are valid.

If you chose automatic downloads **to folder**, choose a folder for the job or set a default in **Account → Downloads**. The app must have permission to use that folder.

A cost estimate above your credit balance highlights the shortfall and offers **Buy Credits**, but does not disable **Create Job** by itself. Any issue preventing the rendering service from accepting the job appears after submission.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://know.rendernetwork.com/docs/web-app/create-a-job.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
