# Download frames

Download final renders or previews, choose automatic local delivery, and manage folder access.

Final renders are available for frames marked **Approved**. If frames show **Need Review**, [review and approve them](/docs/web-app/review-and-approve-frames.md) first. You can download approved frames while the rest of a job is still rendering.

## Download a job

Open the job and click **Download Job** at the top. This downloads the available approved frames with all their outputs and passes.

You can also use **Download Job** on its card or table row, in the right-click menu, in the toolbar after selecting it, in its details panel, or on its **Activity** entry. On the job's frames page, **Download All** offers the same download when no frames are selected. Select several finished jobs in a job list to use **Download All Jobs**.

If the job was set up for local folder delivery, this uses its saved folder. Otherwise, the app opens [Render Network Manager](/docs/tools-and-api/manager-app.md). Allow your browser to open the desktop app when prompted.

If Manager does not open, the app offers **Download in Browser**. Review the **Multiple Downloads** message and click **Proceed**. The browser may ask permission to download multiple files or ask where to save each one, depending on its settings.

## Choose particular frames, outputs, or passes

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

## Open Customize Download

Click **Download Settings** in the job's top bar. This action is also available in the same job locations listed above.

To begin with selected approved frames, select them on the job page and click **Download Selected** in the toolbar at the bottom, the right-click menu, or a table row.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Choose what to save

| Option            | Contents                                                                                            |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Final Renders** | Rendered files in the job's output formats. Choose the outputs and passes under **Select Outputs**. |
| **Previews** | Full-size frame previews, when available. Approval is not required for previews. |
| **Video**         | An MP4 sequence. See [Create a video preview](/docs/web-app/video-preview.md).                      |

In **Frame Range**, use **All Frames** or choose a range. **Advanced** accepts separate frames and ranges, such as `1-24, 48, 72-96`.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Download the selection

Click **Download Selection** to send the files to Manager. If it does not open, use **Download in Browser** as described above.

For final renders and previews, the buttons beside **Download Selection** also let you save download links as CSV or TXT, or copy them to the clipboard.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Set up automatic local downloads

When [creating a job](/docs/web-app/create-a-job.md), open **Network Settings**, then **Approval & Downloads**:

1. Turn on **Auto Approve**, then **Auto download**.
2. Select **Download locally**.
3. Choose a delivery method:

| Method | When files are sent |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **via download manager** | All outputs are sent to Manager when the job finishes. |
| **to folder** | Approved frames are saved as they become available. Use the folder button to choose a folder, or use your default folder. |

Folder delivery requires [browser folder access](/docs/help/browser-support.md#local-folders). For delivery to an online account, see [Deliver to cloud storage](/docs/web-app/cloud-storage.md).

Keep the web app open for automatic local delivery. Once files have been handed to Manager, follow their progress there. Folder downloads appear in [Activity](/docs/web-app/track-progress.md) and on the job's frames page.

For a job with a saved local delivery method, open **Downloads** in its left details panel to turn **Auto download** off or back on. Turning it off stops an active automatic download. Turning it on resumes delivery using the method above. The destination cannot be changed in this panel.

## Choose a default folder

1. Click your name or account icon at the bottom of the sidebar and open **Downloads** in the account area.
2. Under **Default Downloads Folder**, click the folder button.
3. Choose a folder and allow access when your browser asks.

Jobs created with **to folder** use this location unless you choose a custom folder for them. Using the default creates a folder named after each job. Changing the default affects later folder assignments; existing jobs keep their assigned destination.

To change the default, use the folder button again. To remove access, click the cross button labelled **Remove folder access**. This also removes access for jobs using that default folder.

Under **Jobs With Access to Your Local Machine**, custom job folders appear as tags. Click a tag's cross button to stop that job's automatic downloads and remove its folder access.

## If a download does not work

<details>

<summary>There are no downloadable frames</summary>

Check for **Approved** frames. For a custom final-render selection, every selected frame must be approved. Select fewer frames or wait until more are ready.

</details>

<details>

<summary>The app cannot save to a folder</summary>

Check the message for a folder permission problem. Your browser must still allow the site to write to the selected folder. You can use **Download Settings** to download through Manager or the browser instead.

</details>

<details>

<summary>A browser download fails</summary>

Try the download again to request fresh links. If the message says the file server does not allow browser access, use Manager or export the download links from **Customize Download**.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Downloads are unavailable for an expired job</summary>

An expired job no longer offers its download actions. Download required results while they are available.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://know.rendernetwork.com/docs/web-app/download-frames.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
