# Create a video preview

Create an MP4 preview from selected frames at thumbnail or full preview resolution.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

## Open the download options

Open a job and click **Download Settings** in its top bar. In **Customize Download**, choose **Video**.

For other places to open this panel, including from selected frames, see [Choose particular frames, outputs, or passes](/docs/web-app/download-frames.md#choose-particular-frames-outputs-or-passes).

The app checks whether your browser can create videos. If the action stays unavailable, see [Browser support](/docs/help/browser-support.md#video-previews).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Choose the frames and resolution

In **Frame Range**, keep **All Frames** selected or choose the range you need. Use **Advanced** to enter separate ranges, such as `1-24, 49-72`.

Keep **Hi-Res** checked to use [full-size previews](/docs/web-app/review-and-approve-frames.md). Uncheck it to use thumbnails for a smaller preview.

Choose at least two frames with images available at the selected resolution. The images must have the same dimensions. Separate ranges become one sequence in frame-number order, played at the job's frame rate.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Create and save the video

Click **Download Selection**. The panel shows **Caching images**, then **Creating video**, with a frame count for each stage. Images already loaded for review are reused.

Keep the browser tab open until creation finishes. The browser then downloads a silent MP4 named after the job, and the panel shows **Video download started**.

Click **Download another sequence** to return to the selection controls.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## If creation fails

* If an image is not available yet, wait for that frame to finish or choose another range.
* If the selected previews have different sizes, choose frames with matching dimensions.
* If the browser cannot create the video at that resolution and frame rate, try turning off **Hi-Res** or use another browser with [video encoding support](/docs/help/browser-support.md#video-previews).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://know.rendernetwork.com/docs/web-app/video-preview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
